THE COUNSELORS

Our counselors are chosen based on their knowledge of horses, their interactions with campers, and their experience with Triple Crown Horse Camp.  Counselors have each been campers or are related to Debby and Martin.

Currently our counselors consist of Julie, Bri, Sadie, Avery, Tamara, and Lorrie.

Julie – Counselor

is Debby and Martin’s daughter and has been a counselor in some capacity since 1999. She helps with Day Camps, specialty camps, and riding lessons and serves as the Assistant Director. She is your main contact for registrations and through email. She does work full time in education as well as selling real estate so isn’t seen at residential camp as much anymore. She owns Rusty who is well known to campers.

Bri had been a camper for several years and turned into a counselor. (More information to come)

Sadie was also a camper for many years and continues to take riding lessons and last year became a counselor at camp. (more information to come)

Avery (more information to come)

Tamara Hyman – Counselor

Sadie, a camper and counselor, is my daughter and I have spent time at Triple Crown Horsemanship getting to know Debby and the counselors for the past six years while Sadie attended camp and participated in riding lessons. I have grown up with horses and learned about many aspects of caring for and riding horses through those experiences and also took lessons as a child and teenager.  I have also learned from Debby and Julie while observing Sadie’s riding lessons and also taking a few lessons myself.  I started as a counselor last year and enjoy spending time with the campers as they learn, grow, and make new memories. I am a stay at home mom of two; Saide and her brother.  I love watching my kids participate in each of the activities they love.

Lorrie Moss – Counselor

I have been around horses since I was in my teens, so 50 years. I always dreamed of owning my own horses.  After leasing for a couple of years, I finally purhcased my own horse four years ago. I ended up boarding at Triple Crown Horsemanship Camp with Debby and  have learned so much in those years working with Debby, more than I had learned in all the years that I was around horses. I attended lessons and Ladies Weekend at Triple Crown and had the pleasure to be invited to be a counselor last year. I love being around the kids, I work within a school district full-time, and I love being around the horses so it was a win-win for me.  When my kids were growing up, I worked at a summer day camp and it gave my kids the opportunity to go to camp. There are no better memories than camp members for both kids and adults alike.  I own a hospitality business in the village of Cape Vincent and am a member of the Board of Directors for the Cape Vincent Chamber of Commerce.

Avery Mason  – Counselor

has been riding horses at Triple Crown since she was about five years old, and her current favorite horse is Jovi. She is actively involved in volleyball and softball through Thousand Islands, where her energy and teamwork really shine. Avery loves spending time swimming and hiking in the woods at her family camp, and she enjoys helping her grandparents sell maple syrup at craft shows. Kind, dependable, and full of energy, Avery is always fun to be around. She has a natural love for kids and babies—especially her many cousins—and brings warmth and joy wherever she goes

Bri – Counselor

first started as a camper at Triple Crown Horse Camp at 10 years old and became a CIT at 17, and then a counselor at 18. She has been riding horses since she was 8 and enjoys riding both English and Western. After years of making long lasting friendships and memories that she’ll have forever, Bri wanted to be able to help provide that experience to other horse loving kids. Her favorite thing about camp is watching the confidence of each camper grow throughout the week! When Bri is not at Triple Crown Horse Camp she works as a Veterinary Assistant at a small animal veterinary hospital working with cats and dogs all day. She also takes care of a small zoo at home consisting of two dogs, seven cats, two geckos, two snakes and mice! Outside of animals Bri enjoys traveling, working out, going hiking (especially to see waterfalls), going to concerts, photography, watching movies, reading books and playing video games

Sadie – Counselor

has been a camper at Triple Crown Horsemanship Camp for 6 years and grew up around horses. She has two horses at home named Ben and Ebony.  She has been to a couple of different horse riding barns but she has always loved Triple Crown Horsemanship Camp and always comes back to it.  She is involved in many different activities such as football, soccer, cattle showing through 4H, Taekwondo (Martial arts), and she wants to get into more rodeo style events while still doing all of the other activities she enjoys
