Our Counselors & Qualifications
Triple Crown Horsemanship Camp is a family-run program built on strong values, horsemanship, and positive mentorship.
Our counselors are experienced riders, former campers, educators, and individuals who work with children and animals.
Deborah (Debby) White — Owner & Head Instructor & Supervisor
Qualifications
- CHA Certified Riding Instructor
- Over 60 years of horse experience
- 20-year 4-H leader
- Lives on the camp property providing ongoing supervision
- Participated in clinics with Richard Shrake, Stuart Ryback, Bill Richey, and Kenny Harlow
- Observed numerous clinics at Equine Affaire events
- Oversees all riding instruction and horse safety
About Debby
Debby founded Triple Crown Horsemanship Camp to give children who love horses the opportunity to experience “owning a horse,” even if only for a week. Her focus has always been making horsemanship accessible while maintaining strong safety standards and meaningful learning experiences.
Julie — Assistant Director & Sr. Counselor/Supervisor
Qualifications
- Debby’s Daughter
- Counselor/Assistant Director since 1999
- Assists with day camps, specialty camps, and lessons
- Rode, and showed, horses growing up
- Main contact for registrations and communication
- Works full-time in education and real estate
- Owner of Rusty, a well-known camp horse
About Julie
Julie has grown up alongside the camp and helps keep everything organized and welcoming for families. She supports campers during day programs and lessons and is often the first person parents communicate with when registering. She enjoys working with all campers and her education degree and training are an assest to the camp. She enojys teaching the beginner campers and helping them develop confidence.
Bri — Sr. Counselor
Qualifications
- Former camper turned Counselor in Training turned Counselor
- Riding since age 8 (English and Western)
- Veterinary Assistant at a small animal hospital
About Bri
After years as a camper, Bri now enjoys helping children experience the same friendships and confidence she gained at camp. She especially enjoys watching campers grow comfortable and proud of what they accomplish during the week.
Jenna — Sr. Counselor
Qualifications
- Longtime lesson student and assistant
- Strong in academics, athletics, and instruction support
- Figure Skating is a year round sport, and commitment, for Jenna
- Her family owns Wilma, who is loved by many

Jenna is a trusted member of the camp family and helps support lessons and daily camp routines while encouraging campers to stay engaged and confident.

Sadie — Jr. Counselor
Qualifications
- Camper for six years
- Owns horses Ben and Ebony
- Active in 4-H cattle showing, soccer, football, and Taekwondo
About Sadie
Sadie understands camp from a camper’s perspective and enjoys helping younger riders feel comfortable around horses. She encourages campers to try new things and celebrate small successes.
Avery Mason — Jr. Counselor
Qualifications
- Riding at Triple Crown since age five
- Counselor for 3 years
- Active in volleyball and softball
About Avery
Known for her kindness and energy, Avery connects easily with younger campers and helps create a fun, supportive atmosphere where everyone feels included.
Tamara Hyman — Adult Counselor
Qualifications
- Lifelong horse experience
- Parent connection to the camp community
About Tamara
Tamara enjoys helping campers learn, grow, and make lasting memories. Her perspective as both a horse person and parent helps her support campers in a caring and encouraging way.
Lorrie Moss — Adult Counselor
Qualifications
- Over 50 years of horse experience
- Works full-time in a school district
- Former day camp staff member
- Cape Vincent business owner and Chamber of Commerce board member
About Lorrie
Lorrie loves sharing her knowledge of horses and helping campers feel confident trying new skills. Her background working with children makes her a reassuring presence at camp.
Derek — Stable Operations Support
Qualifications
- Debby’s Son
- Part of the team for the past 2 years
- Dependable, familiar presence always with a smile on this face
- Rode, and showed, horses growing up
About Derek – Derek has been an important part of Triple Crown for the past two years, helping with daily operations, grounds work, and general maintenance around the barn. As Debby’s son, he grew up around the farm and understands the care and attention horses and facilities need to run smoothly.
After living in Albuquerque, New Mexico for over ten years, Derek recently moved back to New York with his three children. We are so happy to have him home and part of the barn family again. His reliability, steady presence, and willingness to jump in wherever needed make a big difference each day
